Background

An established construction company

Mar Dar Homes, LLC has been in business since 2013, with in-house field crews and its own equipment. The specialty trades are carried out by seasoned trade partners the company has worked with for the past ten years, rather than whoever is available that week.

Estimating, plan review and field supervision are handled in house, and a single point of contact stays with a project from the first site visit through the final walkthrough.

Construction standards

Built for Florida conditions

Construction in Florida involves high-wind design, impact-rated openings, tie beams and tie-downs, and flood elevations. The crews and trade partners on these projects have been building to those standards together for a decade.

When an existing structure is opened up, it is shored and the new load path is built to engineered drawings before the original structure is removed.

How projects are handled

Written scope, written changes

Each project is set up with a written scope of work, a construction schedule, and change orders documented in writing before the additional work is carried out. Jobsites are cleaned and secured at the end of each work day.

Most of the company’s work comes from previous customers and referrals.

Documentation

Drawings and progress records in the field

Drawings, revisions and inspection notes are carried on a tablet in the field, so the sheet being worked from is the current one and a question about a detail is answered at the wall rather than back at a desk.

Progress is photographed at each stage, and aerial photography records the site from above as the structure goes up. Framing, rough-ins and structural connections are documented before they are covered, which leaves a dated record of what is behind the finished surfaces.
